The 500-square-foot gallery, located at the corner of Stanton and Ludlow on New York City’s Lower East Side, was one of the of the first to promote modernist and postmodernist American artisans as well as European mid-century modern furniture and lighting. Their artist list features renowned names like  Karl Springer, James Mont, Tommi Parzinger, Paul Laszlo, Paul Evans, among others. 

Since he grew up immersed in the antique trade, Merrill represents the third generation of his family in the business and passion which consisted of collecting eighteenth and nineteenth-century American furniture. A few years after his career started, Tod Merrill began to interest on the post-war era of American design.

The New York Studio program presents a diverse group of artistic styles and artists that share an ability to push the materials until they achieve their absolute aesthetic limits. The dynamic, unique, and frequently groundbreaking works is an important contribution to today’s world of art and design.
